If you are facing error connecting to your VPS over RDP . There are some solutions you might want to try .
Solution 1 :
Change Remote Desktop Connection Settings (Your local computer/device)
Go to the Start Menu, search for Remote Desktop Connection, and open it up.
Click on Show Options to unveil all the settings.
Switch to the Experience tab and then make sure ‘Reconnect if the connection is dropped’ box is checked
Try to connecting again now.
Solution 2 :
Changing Security of RDP in Group Policy Editor
Go to the Start Menu, search for Local Group Policy and open up ‘Edit group policy’.
You can also go to "run" and "gpedit.msc"
Navigate to the following directory:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Security
On the right-hand side, locate the ‘Require use of specific security layer for remote (RDP) connections’ and double-click it to edit it.
If it is set to ‘Not configured’, select Enabled and then in front of Security Layer, choose RDP.
Click Apply and then hit OK.
Restart your system so that the changes take effect.
Try connecting again.
Solution 3 :
Update your windows os with latest updates/patches .
Solution 4 :
When lot of failed logins are attempted made towards your VPS , you may face this error . Quick solution is by Changing RDP Port .
Solution 5 :
Use HTML5 VNC to access your VPS in case of emergency .
Solution 6 :
Change MTU Value
MTU or maximum transmission unit is the value of packet size that can be sent via Network. Changing the MTU value may fix your issue.
- You can change the MTI value from TCP optimizer. Download the TCP Optimizer from this link.
- After downloading TCP Optimizer open it as administrator.
- At the bottom of the dialogue box and tick on custom.
- Modify the MTU value to 1458.
- Click on Apply change and Exit.
- Connect your machine now.
